Daily Horoscope for the Moon in Pisces

April 28 - May 1, 2019



6:12pm ET - Waning Crescent (Balsamic) Moon enters Pisces

With the New Moon in Taurus approaching, this Balsamic Moon in Pisces is asking you to prepare for the transition into a new lunar cycle by releasing any tendencies towards victimhood, escapism, and saviour complexes that may be blocking you from getting right with your finances, reassessing your values, increasing your confidence and sense of self-worth, healing your relationship with your body, learning how to follow through, and building both inner and outer security. 

Ultimately the theme of this Moon is “surrender”—a new lunar phase is upon us and there are some things we need to let go of first, if we want to make the most of it. 

Here are a list of things we’re being asked to surrender:

  • Surrender patterns of avoidance or escapism and replace them with healthier coping mechanisms when life feels overwhelming.  

  • Surrender your ideal of the “perfect” relationship. Relationships are complicated and none are perfect because we are not perfect. 

  • Surrender your victim/martyr/saviour complex and stand in your power as a survivor, ally and self-sufficient being. 

  • Surrender your discomfort with setting boundaries. You do not need to atone for prioritizing and protecting yourself. 

10pm-Midnight ET - Moon in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus at 2 degrees 53 minutes

This evening, the Universe is giving us the opportunity to (temporarily) detach from the cloud of feelings so we can see our emotional attachments clearly. We all have a set of behaviours that we turn to when we are triggered and need to feel safe. This is your opportunity to get honest about what those behaviours look like and how they may be keeping you stuck, stagnant, and living in a cycle you no longer wish to be in. 


10:30am-12:30pm ET - Moon in Pisces sextile Sun in Taurus at 9 degrees 4 minutes

This aspect between the transiting Sun and Moon gives you the opportunity to become more aware of the unconscious desires for safety, care and protection that drive your (re)actions, belief systems, communication, and more. Only when you understand the underlying psychological reasons behind why you do the things you do, can you begin the healing and unlearning process. 


4:30-6:30am ET - Moon conjunct Neptune in Pisces at 18 degrees 0 minutes

When Neptune makes contact with another planet, it romanticizes and dehydrates it of its meaning leaving you thirsty for more. In this case of the Moon-Neptune conjunction, the sobering reality of having to compromise or make changes that require a level of emotional risk, faith and vulnerability may be enough to scare you into backing out and wanting even more safety, even if the way you’re currently receiving it isn’t serving you. Instead of letting this transit keep you stuck in a place of denial, liberate yourself from the illusion and redefine what security means to you. 

8:25-10:25am ET - Moon in Pisces square Mars at 19 degrees 55 minutes

Squaring off with the warrior planet itself, this transit shows up so we can learn how to integrate our need to assert ourselves (i.e., be direct about what our needs are) with our need to feel safe, protected and cared for. In other words, it’s giving us the opportunity and motivation to heal that part of us that believes “If I stand up for myself in this moment, I will lose my ‘safe-space’, my home, my safety net, and/or the people who make me feel the most safe, secure, protected, and cared for.” When we are afraid of losing something (or someone) that makes us feel so safe, we sacrifice our needs and in the process turn ourselves into a victim or martyr. 

This morning you may notice you, or others around you are irritable and easily set off. Try not to take it personally. Invoke some of that Piscean compassion and remember that everyone is going through their own stuff.  

9:30-11:30am ET - Moon in Pisces sextile Saturn Retrograde in Capricorn at 20 degrees 31 minutes

With the Moon and Saturn relating in this way, the mood gets a little bit more serious, giving us the opportunity to face the realities of our current situation and any emotional fears associated with the prospect of growing up, taking responsibility for our lives, and needing to review and possibly restructure the emotional foundation that we’ve built our lives on. 

Saturn is also conjunct the South Node, adding an extra emphasis on releasing patterns and survival strategies that may have once served us (and perhaps members of our ancestral lineage) well, but are now preventing us from moving forward. There’s great comfort in sticking with what’s familiar, however this Saturn retrograde is asking us to re-evaluate those structures and foundations (i.e., rules, belief systems, goals/ambitions, root conditionings) on which we have built our lives on. Just because it’s familiar doesn’t mean it’s right, useful or necessary anymore. 

2:45-4:45pm ET - Moon in Pisces sextile Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn at 23 degrees 8 minutes

This afternoon brings an opportunity to address deep-rooted feelings with more ease than normal. Uncover buried truths, get to the bottom of what’s blocking you from truly enjoying life and reclaim your power by healing attachments to that story you have about needing to be saved or rescued in order feel safe. 

4-6pm ET - Moon in Pisces square Jupiter Retrograde in Sagittarius at 23 degrees 43 minutes

If you haven’t gotten the hint yet, this transit is sure to exaggerate the theme of this Moon’s message with one last jolt of restless discomfort. Jupiter wants more for you. It wants you to grow and evolve, but the Moon is saying “not at the risk of my sense of safety and security”. In these moments, it can be helpful to remember that stagnation is not the same as safety and change is the natural order of the Universe. 

5:58pm ET - Void-of-Course 

After forming it’s last exact aspect with Jupiter at 5:58pm, the Moon goes "Void-of-Course" until it enters its next sign (Aries) tomorrow (May 1st) at 6:23am. During this period, it is believed that anything undertaken will bring no result. Thus, while it’s not the best time to make any concrete plans or decisions, it is the perfect time to reflect on the lunar lessons and messages brought forward during these last couple of days. 

Take the evening to meditate, journal, and do some deep introspection. 

  • Reflect on the ways in which you sometimes you seek to be rescued from yourself so you don’t have to take responsibility for your life and the choices that you’ve made.

  • Practice the art of being present and honest with yourself even when its uncomfortable.

  • Consider whether you tend to reflect on the past or retreat there for safety. (Nostalgia can be beautiful, but it can also make it difficult to think objectively about the present.)

  • Give space to your dreams. What kind of life do you want to live? What do you need to do (and stop doing) in order to manifest it?

  • Reflect on the ways in which you experience the dilemma of desiring commitment but also fearing the intensity and emotional overwhelm of it. 

  • Consider: how you can have more compassion for yourself and for others. 

  • Redefine vulnerability, intuition, empathy, kindness and compassion as tools of strength, not weakness.
