Daily Horoscope for the Moon in Aries

May 1 - 3, 2019

On May 1st, the Moon enters Aries at 6:24am ET. Still in its waning crescent phase, this transit asks us to close out the previous moon cycle by taking stock of all the things we started (big and small) during the New Moon in Aries. This is a good time to take out your journal and reflect on the following questions: What were you able to finish and follow through on? Is there anything remaining that you want to take with you into the next cycle? What, if anything, would you like to let go of and leave behind? These are all important questions to explore as we transition out of this lunar cycle, for whatever Aries starts, Taurus will finish.

As to be expected with an Aries Moon, you can expect feel a sense of restlessness. During this transit, the Moon will form a sweet sextile with Mars in mutable Gemini and as well as a harmonious trine with expansive Jupiter in Sagittarius. The combination of these two transits may exaggerate any building impatience, boredom, or restlessness and persuade you to do something bold, brave, risky, and perhaps even spontaneous. 

The Moon in Aries will also square off with both restrictive Saturn and secretive Pluto (both of which are currently retrograde in Capricorn). Whenever Saturn aspects another planet, it craves what that planet has to offer. In the case of an Aries Moon, what we crave is to be nurtured through praise—flattery, respect, admiration and validation. However, since Saturn is making a hard aspect to the Moon, this indicates some sort of challenge, struggle or block is getting in the way of being able to be nurtured in this way. In addition, the Moon squares off with Pluto challenging us to deal with our feelings instead of burying them and getting defensive when things get uncomfortable and we’re not able to control the situation at hand. 

As I mentioned in this week’s horoscope, Mercury (the planet of the mind and communication) is getting a lot of action this week. In addition to the transits mentioned in the weekly horoscope, Mercury will come into a conjunction with the Moon, causing the two energies to blend beautifully. On the one hand, the Moon lends a more subjective, emotional, and even nostalgic lens to the mind (Mercury). On the other hand, Mercury (pure rational thought) is able to rationalize feelings and make it easy for you to communicate how you feel. 

Void of Course - May 3, 4:47am to 4:17pm ET

The Moon goes “void” after it forms it’s last aspect with another planet. It’s believed that anything undertaken during this period will bring no result. Thus, while it’s not the best time to make any concrete plans or decisions, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the lunar lessons and messages brought forward during the more active moments of the transit. 

Aries, as a pure archetypal energy, isn’t particularly comfortable reflecting on the past. That’s because it’s fiery nature likes to move forward, focusing on what’s next. However, there is so much we can learn about our selves and others, if we just take a beat to check our rearview mirror before continuing on our journey. 

Not sure what to reflect on? Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Reflect on what you were able to accomplish during the previous lunar cycle. What are you ready to let go of? What do you want to take with you into the next cycle?

  • Reflect on what makes you angry. Anger is almost always a cover for something much deeper—shame, guilt, powerlessness. What’s boiling beneath the surface?

  • Reflect on the instinctual ways you cope with restlessness, boredom and a lack of motivation. How else might you turn that energy into something positive?
